The ‘8’ meditation

I learnt this meditation at a workshop seminar given by Chris Griscom in 1987 in Salzburg, Austria.

Sit upright with a back support and breathe deeply. Empty the mind and continue for ten deep breaths relaxing the body and allwing the mind to empty any clutter. If you need to lie down due to illness or injury, that is fine but it may be more difficult to visualise well…

Imagine an enormous shining white light has descended from the sky and takes position at the base of your spine. it is a highly potent, sparkling and effervescing brilliance. See it, feel it , sense it and allow its purest of pure energies to glow and start to move up you spine: begin with slow speed and connect to it on as many levels as you can. Allow it to reach your head where it goes over the head, but then raises up and doubles back on itself in a loop over your head returning to your temple where it starts its descent down the front of your body. Then it tracks down to the genital area where it slips through your legs and returns to the bass of your spine. This sequence is then repeated for a few minutes. The light can pass slowly and/or speedy depending your visual abilities. Giving it a ‘whooshing’ sound as it travels can help a lot too. The intent of that ‘8’ shape is the most important especially if its difficult to hold the travel of the light in your mind’s eye.

After some minutes allow the light to enter your body, and send it to an area that is weak or infected or painful. Then on a microscopic level begin the same process of the moving’ 8′ form in a cell. See it clearly, and then allow if to replicate and again and again so that eventually you are visualising endless copies of replicated traveling lights in the ‘8’ pattern. Try to feel, sense, see thousands of little ‘8s’ activating and pulsating. Allow this to evolve over ten minutes.

Then allow the light to move back to the bass of you spine, either continuing the inner workings of the multi-mini-‘8s’ already in process or not as you wish – then this time allow the light to move as in the first section up the back, loop back doubling over the head and return down the frontal body, but THIS TIME allow the light to travel down to and under the feet returning up the back of the legs to the bass of the spine. Then repeat the sequence.

Manage this (ideally) another 5 minutes, and if possible allow the light to become fast as it travels around the body. The ‘swooshing’ sound is very useful here for the accelerated travel.

There should be an energetic or buzzing sensation by now already activated in the body whole. Tell the brain to remember this feeling and urge it to always have this sensation so cellular activation becomes automatic.

Try to do this for 21 days without fail at least, if not every day!
